It's balanced and there are six eaually spaced bolts to bolt in on but there are no alignment pins so it can go on in any one of the six. So basicly I need to know in what position do I bolt the fly wheel on in relation to the crank sheft position? Please help. Thanks.
| | Auto Repair Headaches | | It's been one of those mornings. I have fussed, to put it politely, at 3 different parts suppliers.
My husband and I have a small auto repair shop. We do alignments and brakes as a specialty. We also do oil changes, suspension and drive train work. I had ordered parts from the dealership, giving them the parts numbers for the two types of oil filters I was out of. Well, they only got half right. They told me, well, hardly anyone uses that number anymore. Too bad, this customer is a regular and I need the oil filters I asked for. So, we go chasing down a quality oil filter elsewhere. The send the wrong one. I call them and give them the factory part number so they can look it up that way and we go pick it up. The threads are messed up on the Wix filter. I order a Bosch from another source. About that time, the dealership shows up with the correct filters. I put the Bosch up for safe keeping.
Now I order an idler pulley. Guess what, it's wrong!
Now, most people not in the automotive field don't realize that when they bring a car in we have to have as much info from the customer and off the car as possible. Some of the things we need to get from the vehicle;Make, Model, Year,...
| | | Why Are So Many Auto Repair Shops Dishonest? | | Last week I took my care to a reputable auto repair shop because my "check engine" light came on. It also seemed like I was loosing gas milage.
So they charged me $79.99 for a "computerized engine analysis."Here is what they said was wrong with auto.
They said the system was running lean, meaning that extra gas was being pumped into my fuel ejectors.
Here is what they said I needed.
They said they would have to remove & replace upper and lower intake manifold gaskets.
The parts would cost $139.00 and the labor would cost $281.60. I would have to leave my auto at the shop and the job would take around 4 hours.
I told them that I didn't want to spend that kind of money at this time, plus I couldn't stick around for another 4 hours.
So I got in my auto and started to drive home. I noticed that the "check engine light" was no longer on and the car was running much better.
It looks like what ever they hooked the computer engine analysis tool up to, was just loose, allowing air into the injectors causing the engine to run lean.
After they took the engine analysis tool off and reconnected everything properly, the problem was solved.
I'm positive that they knew that was the...
| | The auto repair industry should be ashamed of the way they treat Women! | | I am so angry, I could spit cotton! Okay, here's the scenario: We bought a 2005 PT Cruiser last year. It still had warranty protection on it. The warranty was up to 36,000 miles and then would expire. My husband was traveling out of town at the time, and was only home on weekends. Keep in mind that my hubby is an auto technician. He kept bugging me to get the Cruiser into the dealership to get the warranty work done before the warranty ran out. I kept telling him it would be better if he took the PT in for the work, not me. Well, I finally got around to it as I was tired of being nagged about it. I made a list of things that were covered under warranty: knobs missing on the vents, the rear seal on the hatch was leaking, the automatic door locking system that kept trying to lock even after it was locked, noise in the drivers side window when it was opened, the oil sending unit was going out and throwing oil all over my front tires/wheels, and what sounded like a miss in the engine. Now, I've been with my hubby for 21 years. I'm not stupid when it comes to automobile repair. I took the Cruiser in and had to leave it for them to look it over (they SAID they didn't have a loaner... | |

| | | Do you ever feel like the auto repair shop is out to get you? | | I just went to the shop to get my timing chain fixed. Granted, I knew it was going to cost a lot because it was already broken, but when I took it in, they told me it would cost $800 to fix it. After having it for3 days, they called back and said that my head gasket is broken too and now it is going to cost $4,000 dollars. I was in shock and really mad. I was able to talk them down to $3,500, but still, I couldn't believe it. I felt trapped because they had my car apart and would not give it back unless I paid. I did pay and it is working again, but I wish I could find a place that was honest and not out to get my money. Does anbody have any suggestions? And have any of you had the same problem? | |
