Have you ever been shocked when you got to the cash register?
A friend of mine and I went shopping. I thought the amount she had was starting to really mount up. But I didn't say anything. She and I spend different amounts on things and I thought she was keeping track. She got to the register and I'm not sure, but I think she almost fainted. Over 100 dollars. She felt she only had a few items. Well, unless you're at the dollar store, it doesn't take long to end up over $100 and she actually made more than a few items. She had about 20 items with an average cost of $5 an item. That plus most of the items were taxable. Tax is 8% here. So have you ever shopped and had sticker shock at the register? I did and it was at the same place a few decades ago. I think that store should have a warning sign, "Caution, items add up to a lot of money quickly at this store." I've learned to really add at this store when I'm there, make a list and stick to one item per interest. It's easy to pick up 5 of something you like and that's $25 right there. Unless they're on sale, that can add up to a lot of $. Is there one story in your area that people can overspend very easily on?
cash register recipts
Do you watch your register recipts for errors? I was shopping the other day and I bought a laundry basket because there was a sighn that said they were on sale for $5.19. When I went through the checkout it came up as $8.99. I dont usually complain, but as tight as money is right now I went back in to get my $4.and change back and the manager had a cashier do a price check and said it might be because the basket I bought was not white, but cream collored. what? $4. for color? anyway the actual price was $5.19 and I did get my money back. This happens quite often. I have been told it is because of the scanners and the way they have to change the data in the computers and it doesnt allways get done right.
Cash Register Rage
I’ve had yet another case of Cash Register rage this week. Why do so many cashiers feel the need to squish my bread, or break my eggs by putting heavy items on top of them?????Yes, I’m sure you can all note that it’s a silly reason to get mad, there are more important things in life, I should pick my battles, and patience is a virtue. Well, it’s not a virtue I possess. And where is that lack of virtue most frequently tested? At the Cash Register. And it’s not just the cashiers who cause Cash Register rage. Cashiers are often doing the best they can (and underpaid badly to do it). What’s even more likely to cause Cash Register rage? Those of us IN the lines that behave badly with, I don’t know, not even the very basic courtesies for their fellow man. GRRRR!!! Alright, so dish. What ticks you off in line? tem per interest. It's easy to pick up 5 of something you like and that's $25 right there. Unless they're on sale, that can add up to a lot of $. Is there one story in your area that people can overspend very easily on?
Cash Register Recipt Surveys
Do you ever take the short surveys that are on the back of your cash register receipts? I did one today for Arby's and I got a code for a free Roast Beef sandwich. I just took the one on the Walmart receipt too. You can win $1000 if you are chosen.
do you have sample program for a cash register or POS system?

The new survey opportunity - cash register receipts
Have you noticed that just about every receipt you get from a store purchase has a survey request on it. I don't mind giving my feedback, I guess its better than being chased by those clipboard carrying goons at the mall. If they offer a discount for taking the survey I'll call the 1-800 number or cue up their website. I guess its their way of customer feedback. Do you take advantage of such surveys?
Why hold up the store when you can just grab the cash register and run??
Crazy as it sounds, these things do happen. My Dad is the General Manager of a convenience store in town called Toot'N'totum. He got called back in to work yesterday because a guy walked into the store and made off with the cash register!! He had been hanging around with a hoodie on and his head down. Then, when the cashier was coming back around the counter from being on the sales floor, he popped to action and grabed the whole register. Lighers flew everywhere, the keyboard was thrown off and left dangling, and he hobbled out the door while the cashier stood watching in shock. It's all on tape and I wish we could submit it to one of those video shows, like "America's Dumbest Criminals". Some guy jumped on his motorcycle and followed him, cornering him until the cops could be called. Then the guy threw the register and his hoodie over a fence and ran. He was hoping fences going through people's back yards and the people in the neigborhood were helping to keep track of him until the cops finally nabbed him. They kept the register for the investigation to make sure the guy they had caught was the one who took it, but they gave the money drawer back to the store. There was less than...
