| | Cell Phones | | I have to have my cell phone with me 24/7 - it is part of my job requirement as a property manager so that the owners, residents or security can contact me in an emergency. As I was in line in the bank this morning, I was thinking about all the other numbers apart from owners and family and friends that I had on my phone. I have everything. I have my credit card number and all my bank account numbers, my daughter's and two sons bank account numbers. I have the account number for the electricity and water companies and the account number of my cable company. I was wondering what extra numbers do you store on your phones? | |
| | Landlord Says "You can live without air conditioning" | | I've been without air conditioning for a week. Last week, I phoned an air conditioning company and they came to check out the issue. He said that because I was renting he'd need to speak with the landlord to get permission to work on the unit. I might mention that I was going to pay for this. The landlord told him that he had an a/c company he uses and that he'd take care of it. Saturday I mentioned it to the landlord. He said "well you can live without air conditioning."Seriously? I live in Florida. The coolest room in the house the other day was 90 degrees. My room? A muggy 98 degrees. I have living with me a 9 year old; 5 year old; 18 year old and her 4 month old baby. All in a house that's reaching for 100 degrees farenheit. The news 2 nights ago was advising parents to "stay indoors with children" due to the heat and drought here in Florida.. but I can live without air conditioning? | |
| | I know I should NOT feel this way but I do | | My husband received notice of my former landlord passing away.Part of me wants to go outside and scream hallelujiah and Thank you Lord.Let me first say there is no lost love between me and him, and my last words to him were in anger and upset with him.He took information he had privy to because of his business and being my landlord, a background check...needless to say a lot of it was partial truths and things that are private to a person like the fact that I was arrested due to prescribed medications, and overdosing, and the fact that he said the state took my kids because they thought I was a threat to harming them....the fact that I overdosed and he claimed I was arrested, which is not true, there WAS a police report the 2nd time, but I WAS NOT arrested, he blabbed my credit past, husbands credit past fincial history and laughed about it. He laughed about that he didn't have to take care of the house, because he was selling it and it was going to be bulldozed etc, etc etc...I know its not right to be so happy about this, but he bragged about calling the police on me for 'yelling at my kids' and calling CPS service on me, and flat out denied it to my face when I... | |
| | Rescued a cat, now what? | | For the past couple of months, there has been a cat living in the crawl space in the basement of our apartment. Although we've been feeding her, dropping food through a small hole in our kitchen floor, my girlfriend was against trying to get the cat out of the basement and bringing her in the apartment. Since the cat found her way into the basement, she would find her way out.
The other day, the property manager said she was going to call animal control and have the cat removed. Naturally that meant the cat would probably end up being euthanized. the property manager unlocked the basement door so that I could go down there and try to get the cat. It took quite some time, but the cat finally came to me and is now in our apartment with our 5 cats. They seem to have accepted her, and there haven't been any fights. The cat, we call Peek-a-boo, seems so happy to have human contact and even sleeps on the bed with us at night. Before we get too attached to her, we'd like to find a home for her or maybe take her to a no-kill facility. Not sure what to do, but sure feel good about getting her out of the...
| | I've lost my nerve | | My mother is the type of person that doesn't take crap from anyone. She'll tell you off for the slightest thing. Sometimes I think she goes a bit overboard, she's yelled at people for things that I don't think they should have been yelled at for. When I was younger I was quite the same way. I once came close to getting into a fight with a woman at the mall. She'd tried to look at my baby twins, but got too close. When I politely asked her to back off, she got an attitude with me and called me the B word. I flew off the handle and went to attack her, hubby held me back!! I'm noticing now I don't have the same nerve anymore.Last weekend we went to a Jeff Dunham concert. It was raining. The people in front of us opened up their umbrella, so my friend couldn't see. She said loudly enough for them to hear that she could not see, so they lowered the umbrella, and it ended up resting on her knees, dripping water onto her. The old me would have snatched that umbrella and told them off. But none of us said a word, just sat there in misery with my friend getting soaked! Yesterday was the kid's first day of school, and the bus stop is in front of my house. There are dozens of... | |
| | I need some advice please! | | Please do not give me a bunch of spam! I need to start a career. The only thing is, I have no flippin' clue what the heck I want to do. I am a mother to 5 beautiful kids (who go back to school in 2 days!! Woo hoo!!!!) and my boyfriend also has 5 kids. So, I need to do something that has very flexible hours ( like a at-home job or a biz that can be ran from home). All but one of mine are in school. And she could be if I wanted to let go of my only baby girl, my last one to leave off to school...boo hoo. I want her to go yet I don't want to. Anyways, so I have time on my hands. But, I don't want a job that is going to fire me when I have to miss a week straight cause all of us have the stomach flu or something like that. I have done many things... such as:
District Manager at Waffle House
Office Manager at Direct Veiw (a satellite company)
Property Manager for 2 very large mobile home parks
CNA at a Nursing HomeFrom these jobs I've learned that I love to stay very, very busy. I don't want a sec to sit down....I go go go. I am very good at customer service but suck at trying to sell you something (I'm too honest). I loved doing the property management, did not like...
| | He actually Suggested I declaw my cats in order to rent an apartment! | | In the past, I have been particularly lucky with being able to rent an apartment with my furbabies, I have never really found an apartment where I wanted to rent that wouldn't allow my kitties. I have paid extra deposits and pet rent even, with no problem. My cats are a must in my life. I am moving again and had to go apartment hunting in the LA area. One apartment manager that I called suggested I declaw my cats before renting his apartment. He said they can do so much damage so quickly with their claws. I promptly told him that declawing a cat would be the same as cutting off the top joint of his fingers and I wouldn't do that to my cats, and that I didn't think the apartment would work out (it was too expensive anyways) besides I wouldn't rent from him anyways, he deeply offended me by suggesting I declaw my cats. What would have been your reaction to this property manager? Anyone else have any similar stories? | |
| | my first apartment | | So me and my boyfriend will be moving into our own apartment soon but we have had so many problems during the course to move in day. The property manager for the complex is a friend of my boyfriend he has known the family for years but they haven't been treating either of us well. We went and looked at the apartment and found so many things wrong with it still and they are mad at us because we haven't helped out much when cleaning it. The future tenets(us) should not be obligated to clean our own futur apartment. And us being so short on money we have gotten a 1 room studio and this place is tiny. Does anyone have any tips or advice for us? This is all new to us so anything that could help us save money or something that helps us out for making sure everythings done right would be great. What was your first apartment like? | |
| | I am glad I feel this happy, its been awhile. | | Its been a rough couple of years for my family and I. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Colitis, then we were told it was misdiagnosed, and now have to have more test run. I had a botch surgery and almost died, from it. It has been really rough, because my recovery was a long process. I have started to feel stronger in the last few month but the economy sucks, so finding a job right now in the area I live in is almost impossible. I also home school my kids. My girls do go to a charter school two days a week, but they are home bound the rest of the time. So that too makes me limited when I can work. I have sold things out of my home in the past to make ends meet. But with the crash in the economy, it started costing me more to run my business that what I was making. Which also had a lot to do with me almost dying.Even knowing that everything that surrounded me having to stop working even from home, wasn't my fault. That I had to give it time, it was still very depressing to me. I have always been a hard worker, and now I am limited on what I can lift. It made me feel really bad about it.About a month ago, my daughter's grandmother came to me and my husband and asked... | |
