Do you know anyone who's had a stroke?
I've never known anyone to have a stroke until now. Last week the property manager had one! Her son is the head maintenance guy of the community, and he was over that day because all my drains were clogged. He hadn't quite begun working on my drains yet when he came to tell me his mother had a stroke and had to be taken to the hospital. He stayed though and got my drains fixed. I hadn't been able to ask about his mother since then because he was very busy all week trying to keep up with his own job, and cover hers as well.Well, my home is right behind the office, and yesterday as I was pulling out to go do my grocery shopping, I saw her. I pulled up to ask how she was doing. Her speach was not normal. She was stuttering a bit and talking very slowly. She did tell me though that she would be back to work on Monday. She also said she'd had a stroke back in 2006 and it was worse than this one!I don't know a whole lot about strokes since I've never known anyone to have one before. I wonder if her speach will ever improve, or is she going to stutter and talk very slowly for the rest of her life? I assume that if her previous stroke was worse than this one, then that means...
If you were going to move, how would you start looking for your new home?
I have a few tickers on my profile here that show my progress towards some of my goals. One of those goals is to save enough money to move into a new apartment closer to where I work. I've gotten off to a slow start, but I'm really hoping to have enough by the time my current lease is up at the beginning of the new year.In the meantime, I wanted to have an idea of what rentals are available in the area I want to move to. I started with my current property manager. They don't currently have any properties that appeal to me and are in my price range. Now I'm broadening my search to include other area property managers. All of my searching so far has been done online. I like hunting for rentals online because it lets me see the outside and inside of a property and decide if it appeals to me before I contact the management company and see it in person. Sometimes the online listings are more detailed than the fliers the managers hand out to prospective renters, and I get more information that way. I've never looked in the newspaper to find a place to rent. I would probably look online first if I wanted to buy a home instead of continuing to rent. How about you? Do you go the...
Bills - How do you pay them? Internet, checks, automatic payment?
What method of payment do you use for your monthly bills? I would have to say that for about 75% of my monthly bills, I pay over the internet. I only use automatic payment for one bill. I would probably use auto payment more but I have had the billing company make mistakes so I prefer not to use auto payment. I only reserve checks for companies that a) I don't trust their payment website b) Company only takes checks (i.e property manager). So, what method of payment do you use?
Moving out is costing me so much money and I am INFURIATED
I lived in a rented house for two years and the lease ended on September 16th. I have been so stressed out about it and it all came to a head about 20 minutes ago when I burst into tears. This is the cr@p that I've had to deal with since moving out. First of all, I left the house spotless, 10x cleaner than what it was when I moved in. For example when I moved in I found a G-String under the cupboard, complete with skid mark on it, the main bedroom smelled like cat urine for the first 6 months we were there (so i had to buy numerous carpet treatments to try to get rid of the smell which cost me a packet) and the oven had been sprayed with chemical foam stuff and not rinsed. I couldn't use the oven for about a month and it took me hours to get rid of all the foam. Every time we turned the oven on the house would fill with toxic smells. And the walls hadn't been scrubbed for years, as there was a mark around where the head of the bed was. When I moved in I gave the walls a general wipe down with warm soapy water, but could not remove this mark so I just left it and put it down to the fact the house was over 60 years old. When I moved out I got a call from the property...
The nerve of some people!
Monday I was at my brothers house around dinner time. He has these annoying downstairs neighbors that like to play their music loud and with lots of base all hours of the day and night. My brother has complained to the property manager before and they were told to keep it down. Anyway, we had not been there 5 minutes and the guy comes up and knocks on my brothers door and asks him to get the kid to quit running around on the floor. He was talking about my 23 pound 16 month old daughter. How loud could it be? And she was not running. He goes back down and immediately cranks up the stereo and with so much base that the chair I was sitting in was vibrating. How can you have the nerve to come upstairs and complain about a kid being a kid in the middle of the evening when you are downstairs blasting your music?
An Up-Date On That Weird E-Mail
Okay I thought I just give you guys an up-date on that weird email I had gotten and which I have in my discussion herehttp://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1288411.aspxAs was suggested by someone, to contact the property manager/agent of the address that was given to me by that Asomoah Andrew who made that photography business proposition to me. The address given is under Century 21, so I emailed Century 21 AND the individual agent...Well I just got a reply! They haven't a clue who the person is and never heard of him! I also did a check on the person's name, and found out he's listed in Africa, not China! I even did a phone search on the number he lists but it comes up as a different number and not a cell phone number, but suggests a number not in China but here in America Curiouser and curiouser--Just thought I'd give an up-date...hey, I would make a good investigator, no? LOL
I am stressed out beyond words....
I am just so stressed out & need to vent. I decided to leave my job cause they were just causing me alot of headaches (I was an admin asst for a property manager). Yesterday, my husband tells me that his friend got a letter from where I work saying that his application was denied for something. I was so mad cause I had been told that I could allow certain things on people's applications and while I was out sick for a couple of weeks they undermined me & made me look like an idiot. How great is that after I busted my behind for that place!! Today, it's just getting worse. Our friend got side swiped while driving. She's OK I guess but it's not what I wanted to hear. On top of it all, my older brother is disabled right now. He was working for a friend doing some construction work and ends up breaking his leg. The guy won't help my brother at all and the medical expenses are out of this world already. I had to go buy groceries for my brother & his family today and will have to go pick up his medication later on. He has no medical insurance so I will be paying full price for his meds. Thing is that he & I have always been the ones to take care of things in the family since we lost our...
This might just be a blessing. I am sooooo excited!!!!
Okay, For all of the people who checked out my post about being trapped in my own neighborhood; I may have a way out. The housing inspectioner came to my house today and he felt my "pain". I showed him the backed up toilet, now one is working finally; I showed him the numerous locations of the roaches; I explained to him how the ducts have not been cleaned since I have lived here (for three years) and the fact that I have asked for it to be done; I explained how people are continuously throwing brick sized rocks at my dog and when my husband confronts them, they threaten him with a pistol; I explained how it took forever for them to cut my grass, how they waited until it was 2 feet tall before they cut it; I explained how because we dont want to deal with any of these drug dealers on the block, that now they have a problem with us and how we are scared to call the cops because the property manager is the MAYOR; I explained how they were steeling my cable; I showed him the stove that one eye does not work and two knobs are missing; and I showed him the bites on my children from the roaches. Oh, he really understood where I was coming from and he mentioned that the property...
Problems in the neighborhood and TRAPPED!
Me and my family are having so many problems in our neighborhood it is not even funny. What would you do if you were in this situation? Okay, first of all I live in the hood just to make that clear. I am on housing and have to wait until a certain date to actually move unless something circumstantial stepps in the way, and then I can move. 1) My toilets have been overflowing for two weeks now and the property manager (which by the way is the MAYOR!) wont fix the problem. We have to go doodoo in plastic bags and pee in cups. Talk about unsanitary!!!! I have three young kids! They are resulted back to the potty chair! I think that it is because of the pipe that leads to the outside front of my house and it has no cap on it and they refuse to put one on it. 2) The landscaper (which by the way is a crackhead) refuses to cut our grass anymore. He isnt cutting anyones except for the front yard! We could be fined and ticked for this! It is aobut 2 feet tall now! 3) We are having problems with the people in the neighborhood because they think that we are either snitches or we are a threat to their business. We are like one of the very few houses on this block that isnt doing...
I am so angry right now!!!!!!
I live in the hood and I just got a knock on my door and it was a wana-be maintenance man that makes only $200 a week to run his fingers to the bone just so he can buy some crack; telling me that I better move my dog out from the back or they were going to call the pound on him. I have a pit bull and he is within the legal limits on a chain in the back and has never gotten off of his chain, unlike all of the other dogs in the neighborhood. They dont call the pound on all of the other dogs. Maybe I should explain the problem between my family and the rest of the neighborhood. Well, The mayor of the city is the property manager for our duplexes. Did I mention that he was shady and knowingly allows the selling of drugs in my neighborhood?! He is two-faced and tells everyone that he is trying to clean up the neighborhood, but he has been told about the people selling cra(k and w^^d, and still refuses to evict them. At one point I even worked for him, before I knew that he was shady, and I was recruiting people to actually move in because our little community was becoming extinct. Well they are run down so it was hard and the crackhead maintenance man had all of his friends move in...
